The peculiar themes (autobiographical and introspective) have made him an artist and a man with a poetic and sensitive approach whose songs deal with sobriety and excellent melodic skills all the emotions of life, dreams, aspirations, suffering and disappointments, using the right metaphors and frequently setting the stories in the wide and fascinating spaces of his native Midwest.

He has ground out thousands of miles bringing to completion an uncommon maturation and expressive depth: the musicality of John Shipe is the result of all these experiences, professional and personal that can be summarized under the broad umbrella of the term Americana.
